Our History
The Leggett family has a long history in forestry operations. However, after acquiring two sawmills, during the 1990’s, our family decided to close the two mills and to build a new one. Thus, the new sawmill of Forespect inc. was built in Namur (QC) during the winter of 1999 and became operationnal on March 15th, 1999.
With a capacity of 6 million board feet per year at one shift, the mill consumes all the log production of H. Leggett & Fils 2000 inc. and also serves as an outlet for other forest producers in the region. The sawmill is equipped with the most modern technologies for hardwood sawing. Using scanners, lasers and sawing optimizers, our facility manages to get the most volume out of each log, reducing the amount of waste generated.
First and foremost, it is our people who contribute the most to the success of our hardwood sawmill. At each key station (carriage, re-saw, edger), staff is trained to the level of a lumber grader to ensure the best cut is made every time. As the name of our company indicates, our philosophy is to respect the forest by maximizing its resources without wasting.
